The Arts

the arts [n.]

‘The arts are about creating objects, images, and works that communicate a message or emotion to an audience. It might be putting on a play for a large audience, or writing a poem that someone will read on their own. The relationship between the artist and their audience is the space where a work of art is interpreted and responded to. An art is a special skill or craft that you can learn. When we talk about “The Arts”, we are usually referring specifically to the creative arts - visual art, music, and the performing arts such as theater and dance.’

The Arts covers several areas including Art, Craft, Dance, Drama, Media, Music and Visual Arts. Within each there are multiple areas. For example, Music has music theory, singing, songs, sheet music, different eras, different music types, music formats, music from different regions, … .

This page provides only a brief introduction to the area, with individual pages covering specific areas. Some areas have multiple pages. Additional Resources are found here, Digital Photography and Photography information here and Computer information here.
